1GATE 2018 [Expand/Collpase]

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
    is an all India examination that tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering and Technology. The GATE score of a candidate reflects a relative performance of a candidate. GATE is administered and conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB) – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. The GATE Committee, which comprises of representatives from the administering institutes, is the sole authority for conducting the examination and declaring the results.

  • Purpose and Structure of GATE: The score is used for admissions to post-graduate engineering programmes (eg. M.E., M.Tech, direct Ph.D.) in Indian higher education institutes with financial assistance provided by MHRD and other Government agencies. The score may also used by Public sector units for employment.

    A valid GATE score is essential for obtaining financial assistance during Masters programmes and in some cases during direct Doctoral programmes in Engineering/Technology/Architecture, and Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Science in an Institution supported by the MHRD or other Government organizations.

    A candidate can apply for only ONE of the 21 papers. The candidate is expected to appear in a paper appropriate to the discipline of his/her qualifying degree. The candidate is, however, free to choose any paper according to his/her admission plan, keeping in mind the eligibility criteria of the institutions in which he/she wishes to seek admission.

    The GATE examination consists of a single paper of 3 hours duration which contains 65 questions carrying a maximum of 100 marks. The question paper will consist of only objective questions. some papers are conducted online while others are conducted in offline mode. All the papers will contain few questions that test the General Aptitude (Language and Analytical Skills), apart from the core subject of the paper.

  • Eligibility for GATE: BE/ B.Tech/ Masters in Science, Arts, Computer Application or equivalent/ Integrated ME/Mtech/ Professional Society examinations equivalent to BE / B Tech/B Arch( eg AMIE/AMICE).

  • When and where: GATE is conducted in online as well as offline mode. Gate 2018 registration will begin on 1st September and exam will be held in Feb 2018. The exam is conducted across various centers in India.


2CEED [Expand/Collpase]

  • Common Entrance Test for Design is an all India examination conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), on behalf of the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India.

    The objective of CEED is to assess the candidate's aptitude for design, involving visual perception ability, drawing skills, logical reasoning, creativity, and communication skills.

  • Purpose and Structure of CEED:

    CEED is a qualifying examination for the following postgraduate programmes in design:

    (a) Master of Design Programmes

    IISc Bangalore: M.Des. in Product Design and Engineering*
    IIT Bombay: M.Des. in (i) Industrial Design, (ii) Visual Communication, (iii) Animation, (iv) Interaction Design, (v) Mobility and Vehicle Design. IIT Delhi: M.Des. in Industrial Design

  • Eligibility for CEED:
    Candidates must either have completed or be expecting to complete any of the following

    (i) Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Architecture / Design/ Interior Design or equivalent
    (ii) Professional Diploma in Design (NID/CEPT or equivalent of 4 years duration after 10+2)
    (iii) B.F.A. (4 year professional programme, after 10+2)
    (iv) G.D. Art (5 year programme after 10th) with one year professional experience
    (v) Master's degree in Arts / Science / Computer Applications

    The candidate is responsible for showing eligibility while seeking admission to the specific programme in which they are interested. Also they should get a minmum of 55% marks in the qualifying exam.

    There is no age limit and a candidate can appear in CEED any number of times. CEED examination will consist of two parts. First part would test your drawing skills, aesthetic sensibility, creativity, problem identification and your approach to visual and product design. The second part will be mainly objective type which will test your skills in visualization, creativity, design and general awareness, and comprehension.

  • When and where: CEED is conducted every year in December

  • Other details: There is no age limit and you can take CEED any number of times. A fixed number of assistant-ships, based on merit, are available to pursue the programmes. 3CAT [Expand/Collpase]

  • Common Admission Test CAT is conducted by IIMs for admissions to various programs in management in India. There are almost 3,335 seats in IIMs in India.

  • Purpose and Structure of CAT:
    CAT has two sections. The first section is focused on Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation; the second on Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning. The two sections are implemented sequentially with separate time limits. The examination will is for 140 minutes. The candidates have 70 minutes to answer 30 questions within each section which have an on‐screen countdown timer. Once the time ends for the first section, they will move to the second and will be unable to go back.

  • Eligibility for CAT:
    The candidate must hold a Bachelor's Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA). Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply.

  • When and where:
    CAT is conducted in the month of November every year . The results are declared in December..

  • Other Details:
    Each IIM shortlists candidates for second stage of selection which may be independent of each other. The process may include Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussions (GD) and Personal Interviews (PI).Performance in CAT examination is an important component in the admission process. IIMs may use previous academic performance of the candidates, relevant work experience and other similar inputs in short listing and ranking of candidates at various stages of the admission process.

    Scores of CAT are accepted by many reputed institutes other than IIMs also. There are more than 170 non-IIM Institutes that will accept CAT Scores like FMS, six IITs , Department of Management Studies, School of Management, Pondicherry University, Faculty of Management Studies, Banaras Hindu University, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal, National Institute of Technology, Calicut, National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal, School of Management Studies, University of Hyderabad, National Universities which have their departments of management studies also accept scores like Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi, University School of Management, Kurukshetra University, The Business School, University of Jammu, University Business School, Punjab University, Institute of Management Science, University of Lucknow, Department of Commerce, University of Calcutta etc.


4SNAP [Expand/Collpase]

  • Symbiosis National Aptitude Test SNAP is conducted by Symbiosis International University for admissions to various programs in management in India.

  • Purpose and Structure of SNAP:
    SNAP test duration is 120 minutes and it has many sections. General English: Reading comprehension, verbal reasoning, verbal ability. The second section is focused on Quantitative Ability , Data Interpretation and data sufficiency. The third section covers general awareness, General Knowledge, current affairs, business scenario and the last section is Analytical and Logical Reasoning.

  • Eligibility for SNAP:

  • IIIT Hyderabad conducts IIIT PG entrance exam.

  • Purpose and Structure of IIIT PGEEE:
    The PGEEE is conducted for Admission into M.Tech./M.S by Research/Ph.D./M.Phil./Post B.Sc./PG Diploma Programmes at IIIT Hyderabad in the areas of Computer Science, Electronics and Communication Engineering, VLSI and Computer Engineering, Computational Linguistics, Computer Aided Structural Engineering, Bioinformatics, Computational Natural Sciences (Dual-Degree & MSc), IT in Building Sciences, Spatial Informatics (Remote Sensing and GIS) and Humanities.

  • Eligibility for PGEEE:

7NIFT Entrance Exam [Expand/Collpase]

  • NIFT conducts entrance exam for admission to its various programs at PG Level.

  • CREATIVE ABILITY TEST (CAT):
    This test is administered to judge the intuition skill, power of observation, innovation in development of a concept and design ability of the candidate. An important aspect of the test is the creative and innovative use of color and illustration skills.

    General Ability Test (GAT ) is conducted for M Design which comprises of questions for Quantitative Ability, Communication Ability, English Comprehension, Analytical Ability, GK and Current Affairs. GAT or General Ability Test is conducted for M F Tech, Masters of Fashion Management which comprises of questions for Quantitative Ability, Communication Ability, English Comprehension, Analytical and Logical Ability, GK and Current Affairs and Case Study.

  • Eligibility for Master Programme – Design:
    There is no age limit. M.Des (Master of Design): Undergraduate Degree from any Institute / University recognized by law in India or Diploma in UG Design from NIFT/NID only. Undergraduate Diploma of minimum three years duration from NIFT / NID. (Design Space is an advanced course that demands an understanding of fundamentals in design and presupposes that candidates would be familiar with the basic skills and theories for successful completion of the programme.

  • Eligibility for Master Programme – Management:

  • CDSE is conducted two times in a year for vacancies in the field of defense services. The Central Defense Services Entrance Exam is conducted by UPSC. It is a written test followed by Intelligence and Personality Test.

    For IMA, Naval Academy and Air Force Academy one has to appear in English, GK, and Elementary Mathematics.

    For OTA one has to appear for English and GK.

  • Eligibility:
    Indian nationals and Nationals of Bhutan and Nepal are also eligible. For IMA, INA and IAFA only Male candidates are eligible and for OTA Females are also eligible. For IMA and OTA: The aspirants should possess graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institute.

  • For INA:
    The aspirants must have a degree in Engineering.

  • For Air Force Academy:

  • Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) is conducted for admission to XAMI and the scores are used by more than 100 institutes. Primarily it is conducted for admissions to various management programs in XLRI Jamshedpur, XIM Bhubaneshwar, Loyola Institute of Business Administration Chennai, XISS Ranchi, XIME Bangalore, Mount Caramel Institute of Management, XIM Jabalpur, St Aloysius Institute of Management and Information Technology Mangalore, St. Francis Institute of Management and Research Mumbai, Xavier Institute of Management and Research Mumbai, St. Joseph's College of Business Administration.

    XAT has multiple sections that evaluates candidates Quantitative, Qualitative, Verbal, Data Interpretive and decision making abilities. Wrong questions carry negative marking. There is also a section on General Awareness which will not be used for determining Cut off for interview and percentile, but will be included in the final selection of XLRI admissions.

  • Eligibility for XAT:
    Candidates who have completed Bachelor's degree of minimum three years duration or equivalent in any discipline from a recognized university from India/abroad are eligible to apply. JAM is an all India Entrance examination for admission to M.Sc. (Two Year), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree and other post - bachelor degree programmes at IITs.

  • Purpose and Structure:
    The objective of JAM is to provide admissions to various M.Sc., Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree and other post-bachelor degree programmes at the IISc Bangalore and IITs based on the performance in a single test. There different papers for PG in different streams like Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Geology, BioTechnology, Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics, Physics etc.

    Bachelors degree in the concerned discipline or as specified by various institutes from time to time.

  • The Nationwide Entrance Examination CTET is conducted by CBSE to determine the eligibility for appointment as a teacher for classes I-VIII. The test is held in September.
  • There are two papers, one for teacher eligibility for class 1-5 and paper two for eligibility for teacher from class 6-8.The paper consists of Multiple choice questions and career 1 mark each. There is no negative marking. The paper 1 covers Child Development and Pedagogy, Language 1, Language 2, Mathematics, Environmental Studies. Paper 2 covers Child Development and Pedagogy, Lanuage 1, Language 2, Maths and Science / Social Science . CTET is applicable for schools of Central Government ( KVS, NVS) and also to schools in UTs of India. Some states also consider CTET for schools run by respective state governments.Senior secondary passed students in final year or passed 2 year diploma in elementary education or 4 year elementary education course are eleigible to be teacher from class 1-5. Graduates and passed or appearing in final year of 2 year Diploma in Elementary education or B Ed are eligible for teacher in class 6-8.



14C- CAT [Expand/Collpase]

  • The Nationwide Entrance Examination C-CAT ( C DAC's Common Admission Test) is conducted by Centre for Development of Advanced Computing for admission to 24 weeks full time PG Diploma programs. The programs are offered at 30 centres in 18 cities in India. The PG Diploma programs are offered in Advanced Computing, Wireless and Mobile computing, VLSI Design, Embedded system Design, IT Infrastructure, systems and security, System software development, Automation and SCADA Systems, Healthcare Informatics and Geo Informatics. C-CAT is conducted in the month of June and the application announcement is made in the month of April.



15 FDDI All India Selection Test [Expand/Collpase]

  • FDDI All India Selection Test( AIST)
    Footwear Design and Development Institute ( FDDI) takes a Computer based entrance test(Math, English, reasoning/General science & GK) for its various programs at UG and PG Level.

    For PG courses students with valid CAT/ MAT/XAT scores also eligible. The entrance is conducted in June and the last date for registration is usually in second week of May.

    Eligibility:
    10+2 pass students with 50% marks or more from a recognized board are eligible for admission. The final selection is based on entrance test followed by an interview.


16 IIMC Entrance Test [Expand/Collpase]

  • IIMC Indian Institute of Mass communication, New Delhi Entrance Test( AIST)
    is conducted for admission to its various P G Diploma programs in Journalism ( 62 seats in Delhi ), Radio and TV Journalism ( 46 seats ), Advertising and Masscommunication ( 70 seats ).

    For PG Diploma courses graduate students are eligible. The applications are released in the month of march and the last date to apply is in last week of April. The test is conducted in the month of May. Final selections are based on entrance test, Group Discussion and Interview. For the advertising and PR course the entrance test covers General Awareness, Aptitude and Mental Make up, language ability, Analytical and Comprehension skills, Brand Awareness and recall, social consciousness , lateral thinking capabilities.     Entrance Test for admission to M Sc Apllied Nutrition is conducted by NIN, Affiliated to NTR University of Health Sciences.

    Entrance Test for admission to Post Graduate Program in Management equivalent to MBA is conducted by MICA. The second part of the test is a Psychometric assessment. There are 180 seats in PGDM program.

    Eligibility : Graduates in any discipline are eligible. MICAT is held in Feb/ March and after that students are called for GD and PI.


19 CSIR UGC NET [Expand/Collpase]

  • CSIR UGC NET
    Council for Scientific and Industrial Research CSIR holds a combined CSIR UGC test for Junior Research Fellowship and National Eligibility for Lecturership. The test is held twice in a year, one in December and once in June.

    Eligibility : Post Graduates in many discipline are eligible.


20TISS Mumbai MA Entrance Test [Expand/Collpase]

  • TISS Mumbai National Entrance Test TISS-NET is conducted by Tata Institute of Social Science, Mumbai for admissions to various programs offered at PG Level.

  • Purpose and Structure of TISS-NET:
    Test duration is 100 minutes and there is no negative marking. The objective test will have questions related to General Knowledge; Analytical Ability, Logical Reasoning; and English Proficiency.

  • Eligibility :
    The candidate must hold a Bachelor's Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA). Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply.

  • When and where:
    MA Entrance test is conducted in January every year.

  • Other Details:
    The test is an online test MA Entrance Test is mandatory for all PG programs offered by TISS.


21Times School of Journalism Entrance Test [Expand/Collpase]

  • Times School of Journalism Entrance Test is conducted by Times School of Journalism, Daryaganj Delhi for admissions to PG Diploma in Journalism

  • Purpose and Structure of Times School of Journalism Entrance Test:
    Test duration is 100 minutes and there is no negative marking. The objective test will have questions related to General Knowledge; Analytical Ability, Logical Reasoning; and English Proficiency.

  • Eligibility :

  • MAH-MBA / MMS CET
    is conducted for admission to first year of Post Graduate MBA / MMS courses in the Government, uiversity managed and unaided institutions.

  • Eligibility for MAH-MBA / MMS CET Bachelors degree awarded any university.

  • When and where: MAH-MBA / MMS CET is conducted in March . The applications close in February.

23Agricultural Research Services Examination [Expand/Collpase]

  • Agricultural Research Services Examination ( ARS ) is conducted Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board, ICAR for selection of scientists in Agriculture.

  • The test is held in two levels ARS Preliminary and ARS Main Examination.
