Veterinarian

Bachelor's in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc & AH) (5 years) eligibility is class 12th with science subjects such as Physics, Chemistry and Biology and admission is through entrance exam.

Veterinary colleges are recognized by Veterinary Council of India.

Masters in MVSc : After BVSc one can go for MVSc and specialize in medicine, surgery, biochemistry, genetics and breeding, poultry science, biotechnology, pharmacology, physiology, immunology, etc.

Veterinary Council of India conducts an 'All India Common Entrance Examination' All India Pre-Veterinary Test (AIPVT) for admission to first year Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) & Animal Husbandry (AH) degree course for filling up 15% of the total number of seats of each veterinary college of all states; about 36 colleges where Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984 extends. For other seats the respective states conduct entrance exams.

This Entrance exam is usually held in the month of May each year. For admission to master's degree program, All India Entrance Examination is conducted by the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR).

There are 38 veterinary colleges in India. Apart from this IVRI (Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Bareilly, UP) offers the Master and Ph.D. programs in almost every subject. NDRI and College of Animal Science CCSHAU, Hissar offers Master's and Ph.D. in animal sciences only.
