Economics is one of the social sciences that is the study of scare resources and how they are used to meet the demands. If GDP, trade, welfare, financial planning, budgeting, economic policy, etc sound interesting to you, ECONOMICS is the field to be in.
Economists study and do research of production processes, distribution processes, consumption patterns with the objective of optimum utilization of resources.
Different economic systems prevail in countries so they work in a variety of settings. They may work at macro level or micro level. They may work as market researchers or do demographic studies for policy formulations. They may study trends in equities for a bank or may study overall financial sector to advise the government in policy matters. More than half of the economists get employed in the government and the banking sector and many join academics. Many may work in financial sector after relevant additional qualifications.
